About Us
At the heart of the village, The Boycott Arms has long been a place for locals to gather, share stories, and enjoy a proper pint. Nestled in the small hamlet of Upper Ludstone, the pub has been part of village life for generations — quietly doing what good pubs do best: bringing people together. The Boycott Arms has always been more than just a building. Over the years it’s been a meeting place, a stopping-off point, and a social hub for the surrounding countryside. Like many rural pubs, it’s seen quieter times — but its character, charm, and place in the community never faded.
A Pub with History
Over the years, The Boycott Arms has worn many hats. It’s been a welcome pause on a country walk, a familiar stop for passing trade, and a quiet constant for those who call the surrounding countryside home. Like many rural pubs, it has weathered quieter chapters, but its sense of character and connection never disappeared — it simply waited for the right moment to be rediscovered.
The Renovation
When we took on The Boycott Arms, our aim was simple: restore it with respect, not reinvent it beyond recognition. We’ve carefully renovated the pub to bring it back to life — improving the space, refreshing the interiors, and making it warm, welcoming, and comfortable once again, while keeping the soul of the building firmly intact.
Every decision has been about balance: old beams and village-pub character paired with a cleaner, brighter, more inviting space that feels right for today.
What We're About
Right now, we’re all about great drinks and great atmosphere.
We’re proudly drinks-only at this stage, focusing on:
-
Well-kept real ales
-
Rotating guest beers
-
Quality lagers, wines, and spirits
-
A relaxed, friendly village pub feel
No fuss. No rush. Just good beer, good company, and a pub that feels like it belongs to the village again.
Looking Ahead
The Boycott Arms is a work in progress — in the best possible way. For now, we’re concentrating on doing the basics properly, rebuilding the pub’s place at the heart of Upper Ludstone, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome the moment they walk through the door.
Pull up a chair, grab a pint, and make yourself at home.
